Helen (Watkins) Woodhull died peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2012 at the age of 89. Helen was born in Bloomfield, Connecticut to Leroy and Alta Watkins on January 29, 1923 and lived there all her life. She moved to Massachusetts recently to be close to her children. Helen spent summers at Pinehurst Lake in West Hartland, Connecticut. Helen graduated from Bloomfield High School and then Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine. After graduation she worked in West Hartford as a dental secretary in the office of Dr. Bailey-Gates. She was married to Richard S. Woodhull on August 26, 1950 and they spent many happy years together until he predeceased her on April 29, 2008. Helen was active in the Bloomfield Congregational Church where she served as a Deacon and in the Bloomfield Historical Society. She loved flowers and enjoyed the friendship of the members of the Hometown Garden Club over many years. Helen lived a life of service to others delivering meals for Meals on and always lending a helping hand or kind letter to her many friends and relatives. Family was very important to Helen and she cherished her connections to relatives in Goshen, Connecticut where her mother Alta was born. She is survived by two children, John Woodhull and his spouse Patricia Welsh of Medfield, Massachusetts; Pamela Woodhull, her spouse Robert Fox of Carlisle, Massachusetts; her three grandchildren, Nathan Woodhull, Lindsey Woodhull and Peter Fox; her brother, Gordon Watkins and his wife Lorraine of Marlborough, Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be Friday, February 10, 2012, 4 – 7 p.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield. Burial will be private at Mount View Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the First Congregational Church, 10 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
