Thomas Michael Schulz, Jr, 65, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2015 after a long illness. Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 28, 1949, the beloved son of Audrey (Dillmeier) Schulz and the late Thomas Schulz of Severna Park, MD. Growing up in Long Island, the Netherlands and Fairfield, CT, Tom graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT in 1967 and attended Norwalk Community College in Norwalk, CT. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout and a master boat builder, independently constructing a hydroplane speedboat which he enjoyed racing summers on Long Island Sound. Tom joined the Naval Reserve in 1969 and was stationed at Brooklyn, NY. His professional career included many years as Vice President of Fountain Products of Connecticut.
Tom was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in mid-life and lived the past 10 years at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford, CT. His family is forever grateful for the wonderful caring staff, especially the team on Ramage 4, who created for him an environment of engagement, dignity and a zest for life.
Tom is survived by his five sisters; Eileen Shalvoy of Southbury, CT, Joann Wells of Severna Park, MD, Marilyn Glover of West Hartford, CT, Nancy Sedensky of Newtown, CT and Ann Marie Schulz of the Woodlands, TX. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are private, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, 74 Cheshire Road, PO Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
