Robert Marx Brandenberger, 77, of Newington, died unexpectedly Friday, August 4, 2017. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Robert K. and Erene (Marx) Brandenberger, Bob graduated from Newington High School, Class of 1957. He went on to Trinity College in Hartford where he played basketball for 3 years and graduated in 1962. Bob worked as a systems engineer with IBM for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He was an avid golfer and liked playing poker at Foxwood Casino. In the winter months, he would spend time at his home in Palmetto, FL. Bob was predeceased by two daughters Diane and Patty Brandenberger. He leaves two daughters, Karen Brandenberger of East Hartford and Shari Gill of Tolland, and his beloved dog, Bailey.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Road, Meriden, CT.
