Phyllis H. York, 91, of West Hartford, CT, widow of William E. York, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at home. Born and raised in Hiram, ME, the daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (Rankin) Howard, Phyllis graduated from the Fryeburg Academy. She and William married on August 16, 1946 and moved to the Hartford area in 1950, eventually settling in West Hartford, in 1969. Phyllis dedicated her life to her family. She loved her home where she could often be found knitting, crocheting, and baking. In her later years, it was her time with her grandchildren that gave her great joy. If you ask them, no one could rival her cookies, dumplings, or her hand-knitted socks and afghans. She is survived by 7 children, Gail Kenney of Bristol, Charles York and his wife Carol of Tolland, Brenda Rodriguez of Bloomfield, Denise York of East Hartford, Esther York of Windsor Locks, Yvette York of West Hartford, and William York Jr. and his wife Anne of Suffield. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
