Evelyn Tiffany Schaefer, 98, of West Hartford, widow of Casper B. Schaefer, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at home. Evelyn was born in the home of her parents, Frederick and Laura Gardiner (Vail) Tiffany, in Bridgehampton, Long Island, NY and attended Skidmore College. She married in 1940 and lived on Long Island and in New Jersey before moving to West Hartford in 1950 with Casper and their two children, Bob and Sandy. Evelyn was one of the first members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford and a founding member of Red Oak Hill Swim and Tennis Club in Farmington. She liked to keep busy and through the years worked as a realtor and as a receptionist with local medical, dental, and psychiatric practices. Evelyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Skidmore Club. She bowled until the age of 93, enjoyed gardening, and was happiest at the beach on a sunny day. She leaves her two children and their spouses, Sandra and Richard Lenington of Mount Hermon, CA, and Robert and Jane Schaefer of West Hartford; four grandchildren, James, Jason, and Julie Lenington, and Megan Sevigny; and six great-grandchildren, Gardiner, Courtney, Kevin, Ryan, Sean, and Owen. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Halsey and Constance Nichols, and two granddaughters, Tiffany Schaefer Schroeder and Karen Schaefer Correal.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Sag Harbor, NY will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vincent and Karen Schaefer Correal Scholarship Fund at Dickinson College; P.O. Box 1773; Carlisle, PA 17013-2896.
