Elisabeth A. Rydinge, DDS, DMD, 80, of West Hartford died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Sunne, Sweden, the daughter of the late Victor and Margareta (Jonsson) Rydinge, Elisabeth earned her Doctor of Dental Science degree from the Royal Dental School of Stockholm, Sweden. She immigrated to the United States in 1974. Once here, she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Connecticut Dental School in Farmington in 1976. She remained with the school for several years as a clinical teacher. She is the author and co-author of many scientific publications. Dr. Rydinge went on to open her own private practice in Simsbury where she continued to practice until her retirement in 2005. Elisabeth was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford and enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Mikael Spangberg and his wife Debra Pencz-Spangberg of West Hartford, Kristin Spangberg and her husband Greg Michaels of West Hartford, and Gunilla Cangro of West Hartford; four grandchildren, Erik Spangberg, Lauren Michaels, Erika Cangro, and Amy Cangro; and three siblings, Kerstin Letzelter of Germany and Birgitta Green and Sten Rydinge of Sweden. She was predeceased by her sister, Ingeborg Rydinge of Sweden.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. For directions and online condolences, please visit
