Barbara Ney Baine of Newington was born and raised in West Hartford, CT and left this world on September 27, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband Jack and her parents Arthur W. Ney and Ann B. Ney all of West Hartford. She leaves behind her son, Randall Eric Dumas and his wife Diane of Glastonbury; two brothers, Robert L. Ney and his wife Maureen of West Hartford, their son Brian Ney and his wife Sharon of Feeding Hills MA, and their daughter Alison and her husband Kapil of Boston MA; and Jonathan A. Ney and his wife Dianne of Hartford CT, their daughter Mindy Ney also of Hartford and their son Patrick Ney, currently of New Jersey. Barbara also leaves great neighbors: Bill Paoli and his wife Marina, Sandy Margolis and her sons Joe and Sam, and her best friends, Noel and Robin Harken, all of Newington. They made her life happier and easier. They accepted her disabilities and helped her to keep going. They were truly loved. Her family would also like to thank the staff at Newington Rapid Recovery Rehab Center for their caring and support. Barbara loved animals, large or small. Her cats were her constant companions. She was an avid gardener until scoliosis took most activities away including driving, virtually severing her life-line to the outside world. Her beloved cats gave her the determination to retain the same style of life, car or no car. Barbara's wish was that she brought happiness to everyone who entered her life.

There will be a brief service to celebrate Barbara's life at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017. In lieu of flowers donations will be deeply appreciated by: Protector's of Animals, P.0. Box 24, South Glastonbury, CT 06073.
