Barbara A. Scanlon, 82, of Windsor and formerly of West Hartford, passed peacefully into the hands of God Wednesday, June 28, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Eugene F. Scanlon. Born in Hartford, one of five children of the late Richard and Marguerite Kirsche. She graduated from Hall High School and raised their family in West Hartford after she and Gene married. Barbara was proud to work as a secretary in the West Hartford School System at Sedgwick Middle School and also at EBI Insurance where she later retired. Barbara was a member of the West Hartford Belles, Red Hat Society, and West Hartford Garden Club. Her love of flowers, and every type of music was contagious. Barbara and Gene loved boating and provided their family years of enjoyment aboard "The Barbara Gene" out of Mystic. To Barbara, it was the time spent with her family and friends that was most important. She is survived by her three daughters and their families, Nora and Larry Shotten of Bloomfield, Kathy and Gary Natale and their children Samantha and Matt of Unionville, and Beth and Tom Tirone and their children Brodie and Corey of Hebron. She is predeceased by her son Ron Scanlon and leaves his three children, Kuna, Lindsey, and Emily, and two great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by a brother Richard Kirsche and his wife Peggy, and sister Nancy Lennihan and her companion Sean Sullivan; and many other dear family and friends, especially Marcy, Mariann and Wes, Dan and Warren, and Ron. She was predeceased by a brother and sister, Robert Kirsche and Elinor Hart. Everyone who knew Barbara was touched by her warm heart, positive outlook, and energetic spirit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 12th at the Church of Saint Mark the Evangelist, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford. There are no calling hours.
