Antonie Murray Martin, of West Hartford, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 after a short illness. Born in New York City August 1, 1935, she was raised in New York and New Jersey. She attended Rumson County Day School and graduated from The Foxcroft School. After graduation she lived abroad in Paris and Zermatt, Switzerland. In 1965 she moved to West Hartford. A life-long interest in the arts led her to painting and decorating. She studied at the Art Students League and the Lyme Academy. She was a member of the West Hartford Art League, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and the Connecticut Watercolor Society. She was a corporator of the Hartford Art School and a founding member of the Decorative Arts committee at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Tony was a member of The Colony Club in New York City and a former member of The Hartford Golf Club. Daughter of the late Augustus J. and Alma O'Brien Murray, she was predeceased by a brother Andrew B. Murray. She leaves a son, Andrew S. Martin and daughter-in-law Catherine of Waltham, VT, and a daughter Alexandra M. Mellor and son-in-law Clifford W. of West Simsbury, CT; three granddaughters Emily and Natalie Martin and Lily Mellor, and her friend and boon companion, William B. Martin of Bloomfield. Her marriage to Robert S. Martin, MD ended in divorce.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Church of Saint Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Red Bank, NJ will be private at a later date. Gifts in her memory may be made to Saint Joseph's Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, Spencer, MA 01562, a community of Trappist monks of whom she was particularly fond.
