Ana Garnier Santana Vda de Colon, 85 formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2016. She was born in Barrio Sabanetas, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on November 10, 1931 to Jose Garnier Y Rovira from Mayaguez and Herminia Santana, originally from Sabana Grande. Ana lost her beloved husband Felipe Colon Caban in 2012 and is happy to be reunited with him in the eternal life. Her three children , Evelyn, Philip and Madelyn and grandchildren , Madelyn Gaines, Philip Colon 111, Gary Gaines , Jacob Pawlowski, Simone Gaines, Camila Pawlowski, Jessie Colon and her great-granddaughter Ciara Colon are forever blessed to have known and felt the warm embrace of Ana's love and support as are her two newest great-grandchildren, Olivia Gaines and Asher Pawlowski. Ana migrated to Hartford, Connecticut in 1952 on her wedding day and lived in Hartford and West Hartford. She attended Sacred Heart Church, where she taught catechism and was a staunch advocate of her children's education at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph and Northwest Catholic High School. After moving to West Harford, Ana pursed her own continuing education and career, and worked at The Travelers Insurance Company as a Clerk in the Customer Service Division, Financial Services Department and Annuity Services, New Business Unit from 1978 to 1993 when she retired. She was consistently recognized for her strong work ethic and perfect attendance, and admired by coworkers for her smile and grace under pressure. In retirement Felipe and Ana rediscovered the island of their birth and exposed many new friends and relatives to her fantastic cooking. Ana leaves an extended family of stepbrothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Florida and Puerto Rico. Several were her constant phone companions over the years as she shared stories and the successes of her family.
