Tribute & Message From The Family

Donna Jo Mineo, 50, of West Hartford, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, June 2, 2017. Donna was predeceased by her husband, Paul, the love of her life. Anyone who looked like him received her undivided attention. That included Leonard Cohen and Gabriel Byrne. Donna loved life and knew that "the most wasted of all days is one without laughter." British sitcoms were among her favorite things to watch, and she had a hardcore passion for movies: the worse they were, the more she loved them. Donna adored cats, she passionately loved to discuss current events, she collected vintage jewelry and art, and spent hours knitting, reading true crime stories and exploring alien phenomenon. She took pride in being a geek and an introvert and loved Kate Bush so much she bravely traveled across the pond alone to see her perform. There, she met the Kate Bush fan club friends she had talked to online for so many years and wound up solidifying those friendships forever. Donna is survived by a large and wonderful family and a massive number of devoted friends. Those friends include her "chickens" at UConn, where she spent the last decade as director of the IT Help Desk. Meet us on Friday, June 9 from 5-7pm at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main St., West Hartford to share a poem, a story, or anything you think people would love to hear about the amazing Donna Mineo. Bring tissues, and anything that screams Monty Python, RuPaul, or Joss Whedon. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation or volunteer at Mary's Kitty Korner, Maryskittykorner.org. Condolence & Memory Journal

I had the privilege of working with Donna while we were at Hartford Life Insurance together (in Simsbury, CT). Donna and I laughed and cried about many different things. I was stunned to read of Donna's passing as I did not know she was fighting pancreatic cancer. I know I will keep Donna's memory in my heart and believe that she is with her one true love, Paul in Heaven. God bless the family and friends of Donna, and may your happy memories of her stay alive in your hearts.

I was fortunate enough to work with Donna at The Hartford and got to sit next to her as well. When talking with Donna, she always gave her undivided attention and was truly interested in what you were saying. And, you couldn't help but laugh when she started laughing or cry when she was teary. She was an authentic person that will be missed by many. Heaven is a lucky place to haver her knit anything and everything needed by the angels.

Though I never met Donna in person, I did have the pleasure of speaking to her through the Help Desk. Beyond efficiency of her work, her pleasant voice was welcomed as well as her patience in troubleshooting to assist me with my computer "crisis". May she rest in peace!

Even though I only met you a few times, I felt like it had been more. You welcomed me as Roger and Tracey's sister and I am so grateful for what you and Tracey shared. Best friends last a lifetime, no matter what. Tracey adored you! RIP Donna. Peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Donna at The Hartford - and her infectious smile and lovely personality made her a fantastic person. Talking about British comedies was a favorite pastime when shooting the breeze with Donna.

My heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Donna's family and friends.
